Jeremiah 2:28

But where are your gods that you made for yourself?
Let them arise, if they can save you, in your time of trouble; for as many as your cities are your gods, O Judah.     Jeremiah 2:28

How it must grieve the heart of the Father to see us settling for worthless, useless, temporal gods.  We do not have to settle.  The Father offers us truth, life, and love.  Nothing temporary, artificial, tenuous, or tainted. The bandaids that the world's gods offer, do not heal, or save, and only cause more hurt.

James 1:5-6

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-6

The context of these verses is a section of James that talks about the testing of our faith through trials.  Obviously, when we are in the midst of trials we could benefit greatly from God's wisdom.  In trials we also may find it very hard to not doubt our God. James tells us that during these trials we can and should ask God for wisdom and we are to remember how lavishly and generously our God gives.  In the midst of trials we tend to feel like we are being tossed around by the waves in a wild storm at sea, but we don't have to feel that way.  Our faith can and must be an anchor that we steadfastly hold on to.  To gain the wisdom that God offers and desires for us to gain through testing we must believe that He will come through. We must believe with all of our being.

Psalm 119:32

I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart! Psalm 119:32

I have been drawn to this verse over and over recently.  Maybe it is because I am a runner, but it talks about running not away or around but "in the way of your commandments". It talks about running in a way that will set our hearts free. In truth the only way that will set us free.  It is all about actively seeking God with all of my heart. It is in this running and seeking that my heart will be enlarged and set free.
